The Mercedes-Benz SLS was unveiled at the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show. It was intended to be the spiritual successor to the famed Mercedes 300 SL Gullwing of the 1950's. The most prominent feature of the new car is the roof-hinged doors that are reminiscent of those on the original Gullwing. The SLS also has the distinction of being the first car to be completely designed and built by Mercedes Benz's in-house tuning arm, AMG. Former Mercedes F1 driver David Coulthard even had a hand in the development.

The SLS's performance is astonishing. The 6.2 Liter dual-overhead cam V8 produces a whopping 563 HP. When it was introduced, it was the most powerful normally aspirated engine ever produced. The SLS features dry sump lubrication, a 7 speed pedal shift transaxle, a carbon fiber driveshaft along with a magician's bag of other tricks. The combination made the SLS faster than the Mercedes McLaren SLR supercar around Mercedes' test track.

This particular SLS is finished in Mercedes-Benz Le Mans Red with Espresso leather. It just turned 15,600 miles, knocking it out of the premium price range into the realm of reasonableness. It has a clean Carfax and shows no indication of any previous damage.

The modern icon SLS is currently selling for near its original sticker price. We think it will definitely be more valuable in the future.
