After testing a 280SL in 1968, Road & Track magazine noted, "For those who value engineering, finesse and high quality construction, it's alone in the field." Mercedes-Benz said it a different way, "a Grand Tourer in the traditional sense" and "a unique combination of sports car performance and saloon car comfort".

Our 280 SL was delivered in the summer of 1970. It was finished in the same white with blue combination that it wears today. The soft top is dark blue and the hard top is matching white.

The car is well documented with the first owner noted as residing in California. A few years back the car passed to a prominent Texas based collector who commissioned a thorough restoration by a Tennessee Mercedes specialist. The work was exceptional and the car remains a specimen example to this day.

We have received the car from a local gentleman who let it go to get a more modern car. It is a show quality example that is sure to please the most discriminating collector.

The car is accompanied by a comprehensive history file with copies of the factory build records, a full set of owner's manuals, original warranty book and service booklet, original build plate, as well as receipts from service and maintenance work.

The car is ready for showing or just enjoying. It would also be a wonderful car for vintage rallies.
