Donald Healey was a top rally driver and a hot rodder. In the early 1950's he put an Austin motor in a car of his design and got the Austin Motor Company to build it. He then modified one of his new Austin Healey 100s and set a speed record of 142.636 mph at the Bonneville Salt Flats letting the world know his child had arrived

In 1955, a new BN2 version of the Austin-Healey was introduced along with a high performance model named the 100M. The 100M featured larger carburetors, high-lift cam, high compression pistons and stiffer front suspension. A louvered hood with leather strap differentiated the car from the standard version.

Our 100M is a genuine, factory built BN2 Le Mans 100 M. It has matching numbers and was the subject of a rotisserie restoration to exacting standards. All the 100 M specific details are in place, including number cockpit surrounds, larger carburetors, intake manifold, cold airbox and frame bracket. Additionally, it has the correct body stampings on the bonnet and boot bracket, the larger sway bar, and factory louvered hood. The car has been confirmed as a 100 M by the Gold 100 M Registry and the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust.

The restoration was a $90,000 body off the frame project which included all mechanical systems. The engine was rebuilt as was the overdrive, transmission, rear end, steering, brake hydraulics, fuel tank pump, and lines. The restoration work was performed over a two-year period and was finished in late 2013.

The car shows wonderfully in its Healey Blue paintwork with white accent coves. The paint is excellent throughout. The chrome work around the car is very good The car's interior presents very nicely with a matching painted dashboard and blue leather seats trimmed in white piping. The leather is good with slight patina on the seats and central console cushion.

This 100M is well sorted and runs extremely well. It is an excellent driver with good power, crisp suspension and an overall tight feel. The overdrive is operational and oil-pressure is very good along with the car's brakes and clutch.

This is an exceptionally rare opportunity to acquire a verified factory built 100M Le Mans BN2. It has matching numbers and its original Le Mans equipment. This car is a former California Mille participant. As a 1956 example it should be eligible for most of the premier North American and International road rally events including the prestigious Italian Mille Miglia. It would also be a welcome participant at many of the top concours event. Its appearance and driving performance is sure to impress both the driver and spectators.
