1958 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia
SOLD
It may not win on the track, but it will on the lawn! A classic concours VW.
Following the aftermath of WWII, the German automakers were adjusting to a new time. VW was producing their beetle as an affordable car for the masses. As the quality of life increased post war, the need for a more elegant car was on the horizon. With Karmann surviving the test of time, they were approached by Ghia with a new style beetle that borrowed aspects of Virgil Exner's Chrysler d'Elegance and K-310 prototypes. While the power plant was derived from the VW Beetle, the body was a much more luxurious than bolted on fenders and sheetmetal: the seamless lines were achieved with welded butt joints and pewter body filler.
This particular Karmann Ghia is painted in it's original delivery (L 345) Cardinal Red and the interior was done in period correct Red Cloth and Light Beige Leatherette (53/71). It comes with a Siftung AutoMuseum Volkswagen Zertifikat of Heritage stating the original build date of March 18th, 1958 and all the other build information.
If you're looking for a concours quality VW, this is the car for you.
