The Shelby Cobra 427 is one of the automotive greats in this world. It's raw power, compact frame, and phenomenal handling characteristics make it a visceral driving machine and living legend . To own an original AC Cobra is the motorsports equivalent of the Fabergé Egg. Many have attempted to recreate this piece of art and while there are a lot of companies producing them, few have gotten so close to the original that it ruffled the feathers of Carroll Shelby.

Superformance had figured out how to do so.

With 4000 rolling chassis delivered worldwide, they are a leading manufacturer of Shelby inspired products. Their feud ended with Carroll saying “I am pleased that Superformance has recognized the value of being associated with the Shelby entities, and on my part, I recognize Superformance in the replica car business for their quality of design and engineering integrity.”

The Superformance MKIII platform is a dream for anyone who wants to own a piece of history and not feel guilty about driving it daily. Handcrafted in South Africa, each body is molded in house along with the chassis being assembled internally. The reinforced steel tubing frame and updated suspension components make it handle more like a modern sportscar compared to the classic counterparts.

Our particular car comes from its second owner out of North Carolina. Sold through Olthoff Racing, the former original Cobra racer and consultants for Superformance, our car is equipped with tons of extras. Starting with the motor, it has been equipped with a 460ci Cobra Jet SVO engine producing a staggering 540hp and 535 ft/lbs of torque. Paired with a Tremec TKO 5-speed gearbox, the car can propel itself from 0-60mph in 3.8s and 0-100mph in 9.5s. Fresh off an engine rebuild, it is running stronger than ever. The other options on this particular car include chrome bumperettes, a different rear axle ratio, custom Superformance floor mats, car cover, top, chrome roll bar, wooden steering wheel, shoulder harnesses and antisubmarine belt, stainless fire extinguisher, and factory fitted glovebox signed by Carroll Shelby himself.
