The W116 Design was the Flagship sedan for Mercedes Benz starting in 1972. The initial designation was 280S and was powered by the tried and true Overhead Cam 6 Cylinder engine. The final variation was the 450 SEL. This long-wheel-base version was the pinnacle of luxury for Mercedes Benz. This was the must-have car in the 1970s. Big, Safe and Fast.
