This 1967 Austin-Healey 3000 MK III (BJ8) is a premier example of the "Big Healey" lineage, having undergone a comprehensive rotisserie restoration completed in November 2019. The project was executed to a Gold-level concours standard, focused on blending a show-quality aesthetic with a suite of "Fast Road" modifications that drastically improve modern drivability. The exterior is finished in a timeless two-tone Healey blue and ivory, paired with a deep blue leather interior and a classic wood-rimmed steering wheel. The speedometer displays only 1,100 miles since restoration.
Under the hood, the 2.9L C-Series inline six-cylinder engine was fully rebuilt and enhanced with a Dennis Welch mid-range cam and a wrapped tubular exhaust manifold for a broader power band and crisper throttle response. To ensure peak thermal efficiency and reliability in modern traffic, the cooling system has been upgraded with a newly installed high-performance radiator, a high-capacity core, and a Revotec auxiliary fan with both automatic and manual overrides. The electrical system is further modernized with a PerTronix ignition kit, a Flame Thrower coil, and full LED lighting for the dash and exterior.
The driving dynamics are transformed by a Smitty’s Toyota 5-speed conversion, allowing for quiet, low-RPM highway cruising. This performance is balanced by Dennis Welch rear disc brakes and an adjustable front shock mounting plate for precision camber tuning. Inside, the cockpit offers rare luxuries for a British roadster, including integrated Vintage Air conditioning and a dual layer of LizardSkin and Dynamat insulation for superior heat and sound management.
