Porsche offered several versions of their 1.6L flat-4 cylinder engine in their 356 models. The base engine was called the Normal. It featured an adequate but hardly sporty 60 horsepower. An upgraded 75 horsepower engine was marketed as the Super. A third and truly special version, the Type 616/7 was marketed as the Super 90. As the name implies, the Super 90 produced 90 horsepower, 1.5 times the power of the base engine.
