When the owner rang up the Aston Martin factory to ask a question about this car, the agent asked which Aston he owned. To the owner's surprise, upon hearing the description, the agent replied, yes I remember it, our Q division had their hand in that one, it's quite a special one.

Can you imagine Porsche remembering your silver GT3 or Ferrari remembering your red Ferrari 458? For that matter, do you think Aston remembers the grey Vantage S.? Some cars are so special they have their own identity. Mention the Del Rio Ferrari 275 GTB and many Ferrari enthusiasts know it's the green one. On a smaller scale, Aston V12 Vantage followers know the tartan plaid interior S Roadster.

Thirty Four, that's the total number of manual transmission Aston Martin V12 Vantage S Roadsters built for the US market. That's it, that's all there are, and all there ever will be. The manual transmissions were only available on the end of the line 2017 Vantage S models. The manual answered enthusiasts cry for a 3 pedal Vantage as well as being a welcome alternative from the Vantage's rather jerky automatic transmission. Our Vantage Roadster is one of the lucky thirty four but that's just the start of what makes this car special.

The World of Q is Astons' bespoke division. Q turns Astons' clients' dreams into exclusive Astons. This Vantage was a Q build ordered by the owner of an Aston Martin dealership for his personal car. It is a $275,000 build that features $57,500 in options. Not only did the dealer check nearly all the option boxes, he had Q do a special cosmetic build including lots of carbon and sourcing a special fabric for the interior trim.

The Vantage has to be one of the most attractive automobiles ever built and the elegant Concours Blue is the perfect color for the car. It is the extraordinary interior though that makes this car special. The seat surrounds are covered in what Aston calls, All Dark Knight Leather. The extraordinary feature is the cloth inserts that accents the seating area, door panels, glove box, shift boot and dash.

The cloth is 100% wool tweed called Caledonia. The blue theme tartan pattern looks straight from a Savile Row haberdashery. In fact the owner wanted an extra couple yards of material and traced it to Johnston of Elgin, a Bond Street fabric merchant. A full complement of contemporary electronics and gobs of carbon trim complete the interior.

A local friend purchased it before the dealer got a chance to take it home. He enjoyed it for 2 years until his new GT3 grabbed his fancy. The car has low mileage and is in immaculate condition. All the jewelry is still with the car plus an Aston Martin luggage set and an Aston Martin car cover. There's even a notebook with service records and promotional material. The warranty should run through November of 2020 and an extended warranty is available.
